....... Many of you all have asked me the question, "How is married life going?" I hope all of those different facial expressions show you I have felt the past couple of weeks! It has been simply been wonderful! I have been blessed with the most patient, kind, funny, Godminded husband. lol... Did I forget to mention that he is hot too? I have been praying since I was a little girl that God would send me a husband who completes me. And I got it. Plus more!!! If you feel that I have been way to sappy so far than please stop reading. lol.. Cause here comes some more! I promise I will stop after this too! Here is a lil' story I would like to share...
For the majority of you that know me really well, you know that my Papa (grandpa) played a huge role in my life. I lived with them during my teenage years. He became more a second father than a grandpa. He died when I was a junior in high school. I took it really hard, but I have many wonderful memories to remember him by! He was a wonderful Christian man who told you his opinion or advice whenever he thought you needed to hear it. lol...He was right the majority of the time too. Well, one day he and I were sitting in front of the TV eating breakfast. I was watching tv and he was reading The Trumpet. (It is a baptist newspaper that he was editor of for many years.) He just randomly made the comment that there was this 16 yr. old boy named Daniel G. who was just licensed to preach. He said he thought highly of him and his family. I was a little shocked about this because Papa never really made comments like that. But the statement that caught me off guard the most was, "Nikki, I think that he would make a good husband for you someday!"
Those words never really left me because like I said, Papa has never made that comment about any guy that I had ever dated. He met all of them too. Papa did have the right opinion about Daniel. He was so right that I feel like God let him say that for me to think about in my future. I will treasure that moment that I had with my grandpa. That is a memory that I will never forget as long as I live.
That story makes me think of the well known passage,
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans of wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)
Thank you all for the prayers and friendships that you have shown to me throughout my life. It was great seeing all of you at the wedding. For the ones who couldn't make it, I understand. I really would like to say that it meant a lot to me that my friends that I have not seen since graduation night came to see us get hitched! Thanks guys!
I know this has been a long entry and thanks for taking the time to read it. I promise that next time I will not try to be so mushy! But all I was trying to tell you all is: MARRIAGE IS GREAT and that I'm very blessed to have Daniel for my husband! |
